The Fox Advances

I worked on the fox drawing a little more yesterday at Ken’s, although most of the morning was spent chatting to everyone and photographing their work over their shoulders (I’ll post them once I get everyone’s permission to do so).

I also bought Dixie’s digital camera – a Panasonic Lumix FZ50. What a lovely meaty piece of equipment, ready to be filled with images of Italy in June this year.

Meanwhile, back at the fox…

A bit of colour and texture brought in, although looking at the digital image of it twenty four hours later is where I am able see the drawing’s shortcomings and areas that I need to work on (muzzle, left ear, etc).

I like your work! I also like to look at the digital image of my work to see what needs attention.

Thank you for your comment. Looking at an image of your work is like looking at it in a mirror – your brain has to reassemble it, and that’s where you find the bits that need work. My teacher also suggests as an exercise to draw from an upside-down photograph, that way there are no hang-ups with any one feature (I’m yet to try that one for myself).

That is a great idea! I have also been told to draw the negative space instead of the positive space on the same principle.

Love the drawing and how you have deftly juxtaposed the very cute with evil glint!
