Yep, that’s me. On June 14 I got hitched, for the second time in my life (and the last).

It was a simple event, launched last minute mainly because my parents decided to come over from Tasmanialand  sooner that we originally thought. It was so great to have them and my sister and her partner all in the one place at the one time. Great conjunctions like that are blue moons.

After a very concise and delightfully unlongwinded service by our friend Eleanora (who got to don the ‘fascia’ – the green, white and red sash – for the first time, we stepped outside and met a rain of rice. I’m still finding basmati in odd places.

We enjoyed a great long lunch at Hotel Le Macinaie on the mountain with just the family. When you say, “just the family” in Italy, it means things can multiply rather quickly: Marco’s mamma is one of 10…

I don’t usually post much fashion-oriented, but here goes:

Let’s start with what’s important, huh? CAKE! Which I couldn’t eat because it contains eggs and I’ve recently become one of those people who make dinners out a game of Guess Who Can’t Eat What. Paired with my mother who can’t eat gluten, we were a superheroic force. Anyway. Cake and flower decorations by Alessia and Georgio at Le Macinaie. They tell me it was divine. Mum and I had a special one to ourselves.

Black and white dress by Gaudi, snaffled in 5 minutes of shopping while swanning by a window in Firenze.

Handmade bolero little jacketty number in crude silk, red toile and detailed in vintage brooches by Delgiudice Studio on Etsy (no longer on Etsy? WHY?), bought way back in July 2010 and never before worn.

Italian heels, of course, from a store in Siena, lost the box. Can’t remember the name. Never been a Jimmy Choo kinda girl. Well, my wallet never has been.

Bouquet and floral bits by Mimma and Stefano…I can’t find a website for them!

Hair by Drita at Woman Parrucchiere (no website to plug, either. We are quite the 80s time capsule here on Mont Amiata).

And, of course, the wedding rings, the ‘fedi’, made by me in my jewellery studio, and in that of Art Studio Fuji under the tuition of Naomi Muirhead. Mine is a reticulated, tapered band of silver with a gold bezel and green tourmaline. Marco’s is a reticulated silver band that I fused with gold geometric forms. Both have been patinated with liver of sulphur (sounds delicious, right?) The Etruscan rarely wears it. Such a cad 😉

Here’s to us. Already feels like a dream.

And honeymoon? In true stereotypically generalised Italian style, we took my parents and sister and her partner Mark along with us to Alberese and stayed at the gorgeous agriturismo Il Duchesco. National park beach, sun, food, wine, my lovely and my family. Warm fuzzies.

And then everyone went home and we went back to work and life continues in glorious normality here in Southern Tuscany.

In a future blog I’ll post a few professional photos of our whirlwhind day shot by Melinda Borbely.
